Habitat for Humanity of Collier County
2014 Building Hope Challenge
With eight families applying for every one home built, the need for affordable housing in Collier County is great. Children living in substandard housing suffer from higher absence rates at school, increased illness and allergies, as well as falling behind in school due to frequent moves. Parents often work two or three jobs to provide basic necessities and make ends meet. Thus, the cycle of poverty can carry on to future generations.
Habitat for Humanity offers families the opportunity to be part of their own housing solution. Partner families invest 500 hours sweat equity before purchasing their home with a no-interest loan. Qualified applicants must live or work in Collier County for at least one year, must be US Citizens or legal residents and have a clean criminal background. Applicants must work a minimum of 500 hours of sweat equity and make a $1,000 down payment.
Habitat for Humanity has been working in Collier County for 36 years and has helped more than 1,700 families to purchase safe, decent, affordable homes. This work is made possible through the many volunteers and generous donors in our community.
Our goal this year is to build 100 homes thereby helping hard-working local families to break the vicious cycle of poverty. We need your help to achieve this. Your gift in any amount will help make a life changing difference to a family in need.
Please set a goal and raise money this year for this incredible cause. Together we can move towards the day when all children in Collier County have at least a simple, decent home.
